We run an Exam Group to prepare for and pass the Berne Diploma exam, the Postgraduate Diploma exam and the CTA exam. We aim to give you the best preparation for passing your written and oral exams.
We do this by focussing on your personal requirements. This is done by supervising sections of written exam work, supervising recordings of client work, arranging mock exams and covering theory which you may want to refresh.
The process uses a contractual method to find out what each member of the group wants from each day and also contract with members of the group to allow them to prepare for their next session.
We purposely provide a variety of tutors for this group so that you receive feedback from a number of differing perspectives. All the tutors are very experienced practitioners, supervisors and trainers who have examined both the written and oral CTA exams.
We offer a very popular fast track option where students are encouraged to write their CTA written exam in 9 months. This is a structured programme with support. The group meets online with the option of attending in-person at Berne House.
Advanced students who have normally completed 4 years of training.
The Berne Diploma, the Postgraduate Diploma and the CTA qualification are recognised qualifications within the fields of TA.
The process uses a contractual method to find out what each member of the group wants from each day.
To be eligible for a place you need the agreement of your principal supervisor and/or training centre, to have started to write the CTA exam or be at an advanced stage of planning it, and to be making tapes of your client work that are within 'striking distance' of CTA standard.

At The Berne Institute we recognise that people come into TA training with widely differing experiences of clinical practice, theoretical knowledge and formal academic learning, and that they differ widely also in their current personal resources and skills. Our courses therefore honour the uniqueness of each individual’s learning and experience and their different learning styles, pace and areas of competence.
The philosophy and practice of Homonomy that respects our mutuality and interconnectedness has been recently integrated into the Berne Institute philosophy. The aim is to expand the focus in our theory and practice from individual change to include a focus on the wider implications of our work on the whole community and our planet.
