Living TA

About the Course

Our adult education programme - ‘Living TA’ - offers one-day workshops which provide an opportunity for some time to focus on personal and/or professional development and the application of TA to everyday life and the wider community. Click on Course Content below to read the description of the November workshop.

  • Who is it for?

A monthly group for anyone interested in applying TA to everyday life.

We recognise that advanced TA training is not for everyone and that so many people complete a TA101 course or Foundation Year and want to continue developing their understanding of themselves and others, using TA.

We created this group to welcome anyone who has done a TA101, Foundation Year or any further TA training, and who wants to continue using TA to learn and grow.

Participants are welcome to attend any or all of workshops.

  • Qualification and Accreditation

Attendance certificates can be provided if required.

All hours can be counted as advanced TA training as they are facilitated by accredited TA trainers PTSTA(P).

  • Course Content

These one-day workshops take place in-person at Berne House and are a chance to reflection and anlysis on our personal and professional lives and relationships, using  TA as our common language.

We invite insight and understanding about ourselves and others within our communities and the wider world.

Debbie and Annette take it in turns to facilitate the group process, structure and sharing of TA theories.

The group takes collective responsibility for engagement in order to stimulate growth, learning and belonging.

Although not a therapy group, sharing is an key element which enables group learning and insight. For this reason, we maintain an explicit confidentiality contract.

Your one Wild and Precious Life

We shall be pondering how we live our life, how we view spontaneity and the passing of time, and how we make choices in life. There will be space to explore themes and TA that help us – including looking at how our script may hold us back from living our one wild and precious life.. (Title taken from the Mary Oliver poem “The Summer Day”)

As usual there will be plenty of time to share ideas, thoughts and feelings on this topic.

    Debbie

Our Core Philiosophy

At The Berne Institute we recognise that people come into TA training with widely differing experiences of clinical practice, theoretical knowledge and formal academic learning, and that they differ widely also in their current personal resources and skills. Our courses therefore honour the uniqueness of each individual’s learning and experience and their different learning styles, pace and areas of competence.

The philosophy and practice of Homonomy that respects our mutuality and interconnectedness has been recently integrated into the Berne Institute philosophy. The aim is to expand the focus in our theory and practice from individual change to include a focus on the wider implications of our work on the whole community and our planet.  New Paragraph
