My interests include personal growth, relationship issues and the treatment of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I promote the benefits of meditation to overall health and the achievement of goals. I can be contacted on 07980 915274.
For 20+ years I have worked exclusively in the helping professions providing mental health and drug & alcohol support within the NHS, voluntary organisations and charities. During this time I have worked with individuals, carers and groups; I have done this without judgement, supporting unique and fulfilling lives to emerge.
My aim is to be safe and supportive. To help you deal with the changes that you want to make or the difficulties that you are experiencing. I believe that being kind and understanding is a crucial ingredient of human life. This applies to how we are towards ourselves as well as towards others. Having someone non-judgemental to talk to, someone independent and confidential means that you can explore things that you cannot explore elsewhere. We all have aspects of ourselves that we are not consciously aware of. One of the skills of therapy is the exploration of these aspects.
I believe in the capacity of every person to live authentically and wholeheartedly and be true to who they are. Everyone goes through difficult periods where life seems to go off the rails, and sometimes we need a bit of help to find our balance again. Counselling and psychotherapy help us process uncomfortable or painful experiences, and they can also put us more deeply in touch with who we are, enabling us to live a richer, fuller life.
I use a flexible, empathic approach that is tailored to what my clients need, creating an open, transparent and supportive environment where I work in partnership with my clients towards agreed goals. I see psychotherapy as a process of finding and celebrating the unique spirit of every individual.
I have a BA (Hons) degree in psychology and a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling, with experience in working with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, workplace challenges and trauma. I work with individuals as well as couples. I usually offer face to face sessions in London, and see clients online if they are based elsewhere. During the covid-related lockdown, all sessions are online.
I have a history in caring for special needs children, this is where my career and passion for therapy began, since then I have had numerous support roles. I have worked in the criminal justice system since 2011 and specialise in treatment of addiction not only to substances but behavioural addiction too. I am trauma informed and have a sound understanding of mental illness. My interests are codependency, symptoms of trauma, spirituality, anger, fear and shame.
I am based in the St. Albans area of Hertfordshire, currently all my sessions are held remotely via Zoom making access to therapy easier for many people. However, if you would prefer face to face counselling please take my location into account. I offer a free initial session offering you the chance to see if I am the right person for you. If you would like to contact me to arrange a session or for any further information, please call me on 07714 735 149 or you can email me at email@example.com.
